Rodent Control in Glendale, AZ. Old Citrus Lots to Arrowhead Palms

Where Glendale Rodents Come From
Glendale packs three different rodent environments into one city, and the part of town you live in decides what we usually find:
Roof rats are the everyday Glendale call. They live in the decades-old citrus, Mexican fan palms and oleander hedges of central Glendale and in the palms around the lakes and fairways of Arrowhead Ranch, and they get indoors at the roofline. Once in the attic they nest in the insulation and soil it, so a Glendale roof rat job can finish with attic cleanup and new TAP insulation.
Pack rats (white-throated woodrats) hold the north and northwest edges: the Hedgpeth Hills desert of Thunderbird Conservation Park and the Skunk Creek and New River washes. They build stick-and-cactus middens and chew vehicle wiring.
House mice lead in west Glendale around Westgate and the Loop 101, where newer subdivisions sit beside farm fields and vacant parcels. They move in as nights cool in the fall and when a neighboring field is worked.
Glendale is our busiest West Valley city for rodent work: in 2026 it has produced more new rodent jobs for us than Peoria, Surprise or Goodyear.

Just being able to not only know the situation wasn’t as bad as initially thought was a great relief. Not everyday you have to deal with burrowing yellowjackets but now I feel that it’s initially taken care of but I know how to handle it next time with their knowledge and experience.Posted on Google![]()

Cliff was punctual, professional, and efficient. He identified what I thought was a rodent issue in my porch recessed light as bat droppings. He was thorough and I would recommend his expertise (and that of BusyBee) to anyone. Thank you Cliff!Posted on Google![]()

We came home after being gone all summer and found large wasps nests at our home. Our technician came out and did a thorough job of checking the entire property and home and found more than what we thought we had. He went above and beyond and removed everything. So glad I called Busy Bee. Highly recommend!Posted on Google![]()

Glendale Neighborhoods and What We Find in Each
Glendale grew in layers: a 1910s bungalow district, a farm town that spread out on canal irrigation after the war, and lake and golf communities pressed against open desert in the north. Each layer has its own rodent pattern.
Catlin Court and downtown (85301). Glendale’s oldest homes are bungalows with raised floors over crawlspaces, wood trim and open eaves, on lots with citrus older than most Valley subdivisions. Many blocks are served by alleys with overhead utility lines, and roof rats use those lines and the tops of block walls to move from yard to yard. The usual entries are torn crawlspace vent screens, gaps at the eaves, and the seam where an addition meets the original roof.
Mid-century central Glendale (85301 to 85304). Block ranch homes from the 1950s to the 1970s, many with evaporative cooler curbs, low-slope roofs and original roof jacks, and backyard grapefruit and orange trees planted by the first owners. Fruit hollowed out while it is still hanging on the tree is the classic sign here, and the neighborhoods around Sahuaro Ranch Park follow the same pattern.
Arrowhead Ranch and north Glendale (85308). Built mostly from the late 1980s into the 2000s around man-made lakes, golf fairways and tall palms. Concrete tile roofs look sealed, but open tile ends at the eaves and gaps at the roof-to-wall flashing are exactly where roof rats go in, and an untrimmed palm next to a two-story roof is a common starting point.
The Thunderbird Park and Skunk Creek edge (85308, 85310). Homes that back onto the 1,185-acre Thunderbird Conservation Park or onto Skunk Creek deal more with pack rats than roof rats. Middens turn up under landscape boulders, in prickly pear and cholla, and beneath parked boats and trailers, and the damage is usually to vehicles and drip lines rather than the attic.
Westgate and west Glendale (85305, 85307). Newer tract homes along the Loop 101 and Glendale Avenue, many beside farm fields or open lots. It is mostly house mice here, coming in under garage doors and through the gap where A/C refrigerant lines enter the wall.
Are rats a problem in Glendale, AZ?
Yes. Roof rats are established across central Glendale and Arrowhead Ranch, where mature citrus, palms and irrigated yards put food, water and cover on the same lot. Pack rats are the main problem on the desert edge by Thunderbird Conservation Park and Skunk Creek, and house mice in the newer homes of west Glendale. All three are handled with trapping and exclusion after a free inspection.

How a Glendale Rodent Job Works
What happens after you call, step by step:
Free inspection: attic, roofline, garage and yard, including the citrus, palms, block walls and utility lines rats use to reach the roof. Every opening is photographed.
Interior snap traps: set in the attic, the garage and along the runways we find. No poison inside the home.
Locked exterior stations: tamper-resistant stations along walls and hedges, safe for kids & pets.
Exclusion & sealing: crawlspace vents, tile eaves, cooler curbs, roof jacks, and pipe and A/C line gaps closed with chew-proof materials.
Follow-up visits: traps checked, reset and moved until activity stops.
Yard advice: what to change on your lot, such as picking ripe fruit and clearing drops, trimming palm skirts, and cutting branches back from the roof.
Cleanup if needed: droppings and nest material removed and the attic sanitized; see attic cleanup.

Signs of Rodents in a Glendale Home
What Glendale homeowners usually notice first:
Oranges or grapefruit hollowed out on the tree, with the empty rind still hanging
Running or scratching in the ceiling between dusk and midnight
Rats moving along the top of a block wall or on the utility line in the alley
Droppings in the garage, the pantry, or under the kitchen sink
A heap of sticks, cactus pieces and debris under a boulder or a parked trailer
Chewed wiring or nest material in the engine bay of a car parked outside
👉 More detail in our guide to early rodent signs.
👉 Rice-sized droppings in a drawer point to mouse control; larger, pointed droppings in the attic point to rat control.
Our technician heads into the attic to inspect for rodent activity, checking for droppings, gnaw marks, and entry points that most homeowners miss. 🐭🔍
Sealing Glendale Homes Against Rodents
Trapping removes the rodents already inside. Exclusion keeps the next ones out, and in Glendale the weak points follow the age of the house:
Pre-1970 homes: crawlspace vents, old roof jacks, cooler curbs and the seams around additions
1980s to 2000s tile roofs: open tile ends at the eaves, gable vent screens and roof-to-wall flashing
Every era: garage door seals, dryer vents, and gaps where plumbing and A/C lines enter the wall
Every opening is photographed and quoted before work starts. More on how rodent exclusion works.

Glendale Rodent Control FAQ
How much does rodent control cost in Glendale?
Rodent control in Glendale is the same price as Phoenix. Control is $245 for the initial service and $95 per follow-up. Solve (trapping plus full exclusion with a 2-year warranty) and Restore (Solve plus attic remediation) are quoted after a free 61-point inspection. The $29 initial service is a promo for new customers who start a 12-month pest control plan.
Are roof rats eating the fruit on our Glendale citrus tree?
Very likely, if the fruit is hollowed out while it is still hanging and only the rind is left. That is how roof rats feed, at night and up in the canopy. Pick ripe fruit promptly, clear dropped fruit every few days and keep branches off the roof, then have the roofline checked, because a tree that touches the house is usually their route into the attic.
Do rats really travel along the alleys and power lines in older Glendale neighborhoods?
Yes. Roof rats are climbers, and in the older parts of central Glendale the overhead lines and block walls along the alleys link backyards across a whole block. That is why one house on a street rarely has the problem alone, and why sealing the roofline does more than trapping in the yard.
We back onto Thunderbird Conservation Park. Why do we get pack rats instead of roof rats?
Because the desert, not your yard, is the source. Pack rats live in the Hedgpeth Hills and along Skunk Creek and move into the closest shelter they can find: boulder landscaping, cactus beds, sheds and parked vehicles. We remove the nests, deal with the shelter they were built against, and seal the garage and other ground-level gaps.
I rent my Glendale home. Who should call about rats or mice?
Usually the owner or property manager, because the lasting fix is sealing the building. Report droppings, noises or chewed wiring to them in writing as soon as you notice them. We can inspect with you there, and the written quote can go to whoever is paying for the work.
